The Srike Gundam is one of the five Gundams secretly developed by the Earth Alliance Forces, and the only Gundam that was not captured by ZAFT. It has three different armor formations giving it an advantage in various battle situations. The PS (Phase Shift) Armor protects it from almost all beam attacks, but it consumes a great deal of energy. When a Phase Shift Down occurs, the armor ceases to move and all functions stop.

The Skygrasper is the battle plane used in the atmosphere. It mounts the three types of Strike Pack and delivers them to the Strike Gundam. It can be used for both transportation and battle.
